Hello

A Bit About Me

After completing a degree in Art in 2001, I travelled across the world to begin what I thought would be a short adventure of teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). I immediately fell in love with the dynamic field of teaching and learning, and since that time I have dedicated my career to applying adult learning theory to instructional challenges in a broad range of contexts inculding community college, non-profit, and corporate settings. My  training and background in ESOL teaching (in low-tech, high-tech, face-to-face and virtual environments) has honed my ability to simplify and sequence complex information and craft engaging learning experiences for a wide audiences. These skills are foundational to my approach to instructional design.

After returning to the United States, I served as Professor of ESOL at Lone Star College, where I focused on developing engaging learner-centered courses and mentored other faculty while serving as Lead Faculty and Curriculum Team Chair.  I returned to the Midwest in 2020 and have since transitioned more directly to Instructional Design and Instructional Coaching, designing curriculum for the Literacy Center of West Michigan and earning a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, among other projects. This portfolio is a work in progress and showcases recent projects. Thank you for visiting!
